REGULAR EVENTS

PARUA BAY FARMERS MARKET – A seasonal market with local fresh and artisan products. Always looking for new growers and producers, email paruabayfm@gmail.com if interested.
WHERE: Parua Bay Community Centre.
WHEN: Usually on a Sunday but email to confirm that it is on.

PARUA BAY TAVERN QUIZ NIGHT – A local favourite happening each week.
WHERE: Parua Bay Tavern.
WHEN: Wednesdays from 7pm.

 

ANNUAL EVENTS

WILD KIWI

The Wild Kiwi multi-sport is an event that invites adventurous kiwis from all over the country to participate in a number of amazing off-road events. Expect amazing beaches, tracks and trails that will knock your socks off! There’s fun for all ages and abilities and still time to enter. Check out the Wild Kiwi website for all event info, registration details and highlights from last years event. Bring the family or a group of friends and make the most of visiting this fabulous nature lovers area.

WHANGAREI ARTS TRIAL

The Whangarei Heads Arts Trail is a fantastic annual celebration of the vibrant arts community in the area. During Easter weekend each year up to 40 Artists, all located on Whangarei Heads, stage simultaneous studio and community venue exhibitions so that visitors from around the country can take in the spectacular scenery whilst browsing through the amazing selection of work available. Visit the Artists’ website for all the artists’ info and locations planned for this year.

PARUA BAY SCHOOL ARTS, CRAFT & FOOD SHOW

A mainstay on the Northland arts and crafts calendar, attracting artisans from all over the region and beyond. Fantastic fun for the whole family, held each year on Queens Birthday Monday.

FUNKY FISHING

Family fishing and diving competition at Whangarei Heads. An awesome family day organised by Whangarei Heads School and Community Library. This event happens in late Summer each year. After a day of competitive fishing and prize-giving be preprepared for the never-ending colourful fishing auction! Check out their website for more information.

WHANGAREI HEADS GARDEN DISCOVERY TOUR

Sub-tropicals, exotic plants and shrubs, vegetable and fruit trees all flourish in the warm, humid climate here. Get inspiration for your own garden or simply enjoy a relaxing day out with friends. Join us for a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a cake or sandwich at McLeods Bay Hall and get a feel for the sense of community that makes this place so special. Take a look at a floral display in the historic Church and have a look at the collection of historical photos that will be displayed at Taurikura Hall when the event is happening.

Pop up Events

Very last minute but super fun and FREE for the Whangarei community – this Saturday 8th February there is an event being held instore at The Warehouse Whangarei with Kiwi legend Pio Terei.

Pio will be hosting two storytelling sessions between 11am – 1pm this Saturday. The FREE event invites kids and families in the local Whangarei community to join in, and get excited about reading. There will be goodie bags, laughs and lots of fun!!
